Hargeisa, Somaliland – On May 29, the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Amb. Mohamed Aw-Ali Abdi, extended profound gratitude to key individuals and the Hargeisa Water Agency for their pivotal roles in the successful establishment of a new borehole in the Darasalam vicinity. This crucial initiative is a significant stride in the Hargeisa Water Agency's ambitious second phase of water expansion, a project dedicated to ensuring widespread access to clean, running water for a growing number of households across Hargeisa. The new borehole is poised to alleviate persistent water scarcity, underscoring the government's unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its urban residents.

With sincere appreciation, the Vice President, Amb. Mohamed Aw-Ali Abdi, extends his deepest gratitude to the Darasalam vicinity chairman for his steadfast dedication and service to this community. His tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed and are highly valued. Equally, he wishes to express his profound thanks to the Hargeisa Water Agency General Manager and Minister Fuaad, whose unwavering commitment to both their local area and the greater Hargeisa region is truly commendable. Their relentless work is making a tangible difference in the lives of many. Furthermore, he is delighted to offer his heartfelt congratulations and immense gratitude to the generous owner of this very farm. Their noble act of donating the land for this crucial borehole project is an act of exceptional generosity and will have a lasting impact on their community.

As previously mentioned, it is imperative that the community residing in the immediate vicinity of this new borehole be prioritized in its utilization. There are individuals and families living nearby who are struggling with limited or no access to water, a basic necessity for survival. Additionally, livestock in the area also face the same challenges. The authorities must ensure that both people and animals in this region are given the opportunity to benefit from this vital water source. It is a well-known fact that this year has seen significantly less rainfall than usual. In these challenging times, they earnestly beseech Allah to shower them with His mercy and blessings.

On behalf of the new government of the Republic of Somaliland, the Vice President wholeheartedly congratulates and commends the Hargeisa Water Agency for their ongoing and essential work in expanding access to running water for an increasing number of households throughout Hargeisa. They have great confidence in their continued dedication and anticipate even greater progress in the future. The profound truth is that water is life. Without it, existence itself becomes impossible. They are acutely aware of the rapid growth of their capital city, Hargeisa. This expansion brings with it a corresponding increase in the demand and expectations for water delivery. Their fervent hope is that Hargeisa will soon have a sustainable and abundant water supply to meet the needs of its growing population.

Having been entrusted with the leadership of their nation for only the past six months, the new government is fully committed to close collaboration with the Hargeisa Water Agency. It is through this partnership that they will achieve their shared vision of water security for all. A key priority will be focusing on connecting these new boreholes to the main pump station in Geedeeble, a vital step in ensuring efficient distribution. The widespread water scarcity currently affecting Somaliland underscores the absolute necessity of harnessing their underground water resources. This is a top priority for their government. The recent acquisition of the deep drilling rig is a most timely and essential investment. The engineer has highlighted its impressive capabilities, including the ability to drill to depths of up to 600 meters. While water was discovered at a relatively shallow 22 meters in this particular instance, such deep drilling capabilities will undoubtedly be critical in other areas where water resources lie far deeper
